Senior Celebrations!

Students are starting to receive acceptance letters from colleges! If you see these individuals, take a moment to congratulate them:

Mia Scara: accepted to San Diego State University, Loyola Marymount University, Pepperdine University, South Carolina University, and Fordham University!

Ester Mohamed: accepted to Boston College on a FULL-RIDE scholarship through the Questbridge Program! Less than 10% of applicants nationwide receive this honor!

Senior Action Items

Senior Families: check here for updates on critical upcoming deadlines and pertinent objectives your seniors should complete! 

By January 15, all seniors should have:

  1. Applied to all colleges on your Overgrad List (make sure your Common App list matches your Overgrad list exactly!)​​

  2. Apply for FAFSA/CAFSA (including the signature page)

    • ​Note: if your family does not intend to apply for FAFSA, you must communicate this to your student's college counselor​​​​​

Upcoming Events and Opportunities

Junior Family College Night

  • What: Feeling anxious about your student's Junior spring? Come hang out with the College Success Team as we dive into subjects including, but not limited to: Academic Counseling, College Lists, Financial Aid, and key student action items

  • When: Monday, Feb. 7 from 5:30-7:00pm 

  • How: TBD (In-Person vs. Virtual)

NACAC Virtual College Fairs

  • What: A series of nationwide virtual college fairs aid students in 9th-11th grade in the early stages of their college search

  • When: First fair is on Sunday, January 30 from 1pm-6pm EST

Helpful Links & Resources

Juniors: looking for extra support with searching for colleges and preparing your applications? Join the Davidson College (North Carolina) Admission Staff this February (5th & 12th) for a workshop series designed to help prepare you for the college search and application process.  Sessions will cover topics ranging from starting the college search to admission & financial aid basics and college essay writing.  All workshops are free. View the full schedule and register here

    • Scholarship work time! Focus on application-based merit scholarships and grants

    • If you and your family have not yet submitted the FAFSA, that is the top priority
